Hello there!
What's this all about?!
Hiya! I’m Stephanie Singer— award-winning composer, creative director, and artist, speaker.
profesh me…
actual me…
This is my space to share thoughts on the creative process, ways of making, staving off existential dread, and, hopefully, to bring together a community of like-minded people. My goal? To build a culture of creativity that’s thoughtful, purposeful, and supportive.
Why? Because let’s be real—every maker/artist/creative (maybe even every person) has those moments:
Am I deluded?
Am I good enough?
What the actual f** am I doing?*
How do I turn this idea into reality?
So, what have I been up to?
Founded Bittersuite, running it for 10 years and producing multi-sensory concerts for places like the Royal Opera House and Brooklyn Academy of Music.
Organized a three-day, 24-hour festival across London, commissioning 300 artists. (Never doing that again.)
Wrote a score for an immersive piece with New York City Ballet.
Built a digital operatic avatar for the Finnish National Opera House.
Got a Routemaster bus, gutted it, and turned it into a traveling museum of invention.
Campaigned for radical change in policing and judicial processes for sexual violence—at the House of Lords and beyond.
Wrote a two-hour electronica opera, a musical about runaway shoes, and dreamed up a kids’ TV animation.
Burnt out. Got a kidney infection. Lived in NYC.
Now? I’m scribbling down my thoughts to see if they resonate with anyone else.
